COMIN’ AFTER YOU ALL
Darren Jessee of Hotel Lights and Ben Folds Five (who are recording a new album). Such a solid, multidisciplined drummer/musician.
Encounter. Another cool band from early 90s. I got “Lost” on cassette before the EP was released on vinyl and I loved it. What’s up to Mikey and Joel.
PS. This is for Thommy and everyone who digs a bit of nostalgia - LOST EP
Nice! Next post the Kingpin discography and my week will be set.

When Heidecker and Wareheim took the stage for the Q&A, the audience was both playful and hostile. The guys made up nicknames for the questioners, and the questioners weren’t shy about mocking them back.
“Questions?” Heidecker said, kicking things off. “What kind of questions could you possibly have?”
“What the f—!” one audience member shouted.
Heidecker’s answer: “F— you. What else? … You, baldy?”
The folically challenged moviegoer asked about a scene where the two roly-poly gentlemen share a bath and shave each other. “Which one of you got wood first?”
“Next question,” Heidecker answered.
“What’s the moral of the story?” someone shouted.
“Friendship,” Heidecker snapped.
“Next?” Wareheim said.
“What was the actual budget of the film and how much of that budget was for drugs?” a woman asked. The audience laughed.
“It’s a low-budget film,” Wareheim shrugged. “Under a billion.”

Black Flag’s Damaged album came out January 23, 1982. Here’s a live performance of “Six Pack” from that era.

In the past month I’ve been active with two other blogs that feature some really cool content. You should check them out.
Textual Artifacts is an archive of curated material involving interesting, but mostly old, typographic signage, advertising and design. My brother-in-law and I have been feverishly taking photos all over our city and are encouraging friends in other cities to submit their own photos (not re-posting other content found online).
Skag Heaven is a video archive of (underground) Louisville Music. Over the years I have favorited and liked many, many videos on YouTube and Vimeo of Louisville bands. I’ve been tossing around the idea to doing something similar to this for many years, but when the fine folks at VHX came out with their tumblr theme I knew it was time. It’s the perfect theme for a video blog. The real experience of Skag Heaven is watching it on your desktop/laptop in it’s full-screen video goodness.

Moonrise Kingdom trailer now up. I don’t care if I’m that guy, I will see this movie on opening night.
This week’s motto: Bob Mould all day, everyday.
I recently created this stamp design for local food and travel writer Dana McMahan. This custom inspector stamp is 5/8”, about the size of a dime. Definitely the smallest area I ever worked in.
Us Vs. Them was a record store which lived and died in the back of Home Skateshop during the mid 1990’s when Home was located on Baxter Avenue just north of Broadway.
This was my second home. I spent almost every day there after school my senior year.
